To enhance seamless tax payments, the Imo State Internal Revenue Service (IIRS), in partnership with Interswitch and REMITA, organized a training session for bank tellers across the state.

The session was aimed at highlighting challenges faced by bank tellers while processing payments on the platforms. These include but are not limited to network connectivity, payment reversals, and handling large tax payments.

The need for an Interswitch representative in the State was emphasised for efficient problem resolution. .

IIRS representatives provided clarification on payment reversals, urging the tellers to be more cautious while processing transactions, explaining that some errors made cannot be reversed .

Additionally, the tellers were enlightened on the payment of harmonized assessments, assuring them that the new Revenue Management System (RMS) has streamlined the tax payment process for ease and efficiency.

The bank tellers were encouraged to promptly report payment issues encountered to prevent escalation into major problems.
