The Executive Chairman of the Imo State Internal Revenue Service (IIRS), Mr. Justice Okoye (FCA), warmly received the Imo State Hoteliers’ Association during a courtesy visit. He acknowledged the Hoteliers’ industry significant contribution to the state’s economy and reaffirmed his commitment to fostering a productive partnership with the association.
The former Chairman of the Hoteliers’ Association, Mr. Chima Chukwunyere, commended Mr. Okoye and his management team for their efforts in driving revenue growth for the state. He then introduced the newly elected Chairman, His Royal Highness J.E. Nwosu, who expressed his appreciation for the warm reception. HRH Nwosu emphasized the need for a stronger collaboration between the IIRS and the Hoteliers’ Association and appealed for tax assessments to consider environmental factors, citing operational challenges faced by hoteliers in the state.
Mr. Okoye congratulated HRH J.E. Nwosu on his election and acknowledged the association’s contributions to the state’s economic development. He assured the delegation of his dedication to creating a more business-friendly environment and enhancing tax compliance. He encouraged the association to educate its members on the benefits of timely tax remittance, stressing its importance in supporting the state’s development initiatives.
The IIRS Chairman Mr. Okoye introduced the newly implemented Revenue Management System (RMS), designed to streamline tax assessment and remittance, making the process more efficient and convenient for all taxpayers. He reiterated his vision for modernizing the IIRS and fostering strategic partnerships that align with the state’s economic development goals.
Through his proactive leadership, Mr. Justice Okoye continues to enhance the state’s revenue systems, ensuring a transparent, efficient, and collaborative framework that benefits all sectors, including the hospitality industry.
