IMO STATE MOTORCYCLIST ASSOCIATION MEETS WITH IIRS CHAIRMAN

The Chairman of the Imo State Motorcyclist Association, accompanied by members of his executive team, paid a courtesy visit to the Acting Executive Chairman of the Imo State Internal Revenue Service (IIRS), Mr. Justice Okoye, to congratulate him on his re-appointment. The visit was held on Thursday, 12th September 2024 at the Head Office of the Service.
The Association Chairman expressed his enthusiasm for continuing the positive relationship they had previously enjoyed under Mr. Okoye’s leadership during his previous tenure as Chairman.
He reaffirmed the Associations’ readiness to work closely with the IIRS in data capturing of all motorcyclists operating within the state, ensuring compliance with tax related matters, as well as commitment to ensuring well-organized operation of the members.
He also stated that the association is interested in assisting the Service to identify potential revenue sources related to motorcycle operations.
In his response, the IIRS Chairman, while appreciating the association for their proactive initiative suggested that further meetings would be scheduled to discuss avenues for revenue generation. The IIRS Chairman added that a new Tax Management System would be deployed soon and welcomed the Association’s offer of collaboration. He emphasized the importance of an organized and transparent approach to ensure compliance and efficiency in the sector.
