Investigate and prosecute unscrupulous individuals claiming to be task force/enforcement teams from the State Government-IIRS Chairman

The Acting Executive Chairman of the Imo State Internal Revenue Service (IIRS), Mr. Justice R. Okoye, has paid a courtesy visit to the Imo State Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma. The visit which held on Friday, 6th September 2024 was aimed to foster collaboration between the IIRS and the Imo State Police Command on various tax-related matters and enforcement.

The Commissioner of Police warmly welcomed the Chairman and congratulated him on his reappointment. He expressed happiness over the Chairman’s visit and emphasized that it was a step in the right direction for strengthening ties between the security agency and the revenue service.

The IIRS Chairman appreciated the Commissioner and his team for their continued dedication in keeping Imo secure. He highlighted the vital role the Police Force plays in maintaining peace and order across the state.

The Chairman reiterated that only those authorized by the IIRS are allowed to carry out enforcement activities within the State. He maintained that the Police Command should not honour letters from unscrupulous elements claiming to be task force/enforcement teams from Government but should arrest them.

In response, the Commissioner of Police thanked the Chairman and his team for the visit. He acknowledged the importance of revenue generation in nation building and assured the IIRS Chairman of the Police Command’s unwavering support in all areas the need arises.

CP Danjuma applauded the Imo State Governments’ continuous support for the police under the leadership of His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma.
