In a move to strengthen collaboration and enhance revenue generation, the Acting Executive Chairman of the Imo State Internal Revenue Service (IIRS), Mr. Justice Okoye welcomed a team from the Imo State Ministry of Environment and Sanitation led by the Honourable Commissioner, Sir. Barrister Major Emenike on Monday, 2nd September, 2024.
The Honourable Commissioner thanked the IIRS Chairman and congratulated him on his re-appointment. He stated that the ministry is a viable institution, established to maintain environmental sustainability but has not optimised it’s revenue base which has led to low revenue generation, hence the need to grow it.
Challenges bordering on revenue generation for the ministry, modalities on how to tackle them and lasting solutions to boost revenue generation were extensively discussed.
The IIRS Chairman thanked the Commissioner and his team for the visit and promised that the Service would provide the necessary assistance to enhance the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of Imo State.
