NRS, Imo IIRS Deepen Partnership on Tax Administration and Information Exchange

The Imo State Internal Revenue Service received a delegation from the Nigeria Revenue Service as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen institutional collaboration and foster mutual growth across tax administrations.
The visit was centred on deepening partnership through the exchange of information, enhanced cooperation, and strategic alignment for the overall benefit of both the nation and sub-national tax systems. Discussions focused on key operational areas, particularly Consumption Tax, where issues and concerns were raised by the visiting team.
The Executive Chairman of the Imo State Internal Revenue Service provided detailed clarifications on the matters discussed, reaffirming the Service’s commitment to transparency, compliance, and inter-agency cooperation. He further highlighted the existing collaboration between both agencies, especially in the area of Joint Tax Audits, noting that such initiatives are instrumental in blocking revenue leakages across the federal, state, and local government levels.
Members of the Nigeria Revenue Service delegation also spoke on the importance of continuous capacity building. They proposed technical sessions and staff training programmes, emphasizing their readiness to provide professional support and technical assistance whenever required.
The visit concluded on a positive note, with both agencies reaffirming their shared commitment to stronger collaboration, improved tax administration, and revenue optimization for national development.
