Driving Innovation: IIRS, LGA Chairmen & EWAMAC Unite on Informal Sector Digital Solution

 

The Imo State Internal Revenue Service (IIRS) recently convened a strategic meeting with Local Government Area (LGA) Chairmen and representatives of EWAMAC as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the administration of taxes within the informal sector.

The session, led by the Head of Compliance, Mr. Okechukwu, commenced with introductions and a clear articulation of the objectives of the Informal Sector Agent App Project. The engagement focused on fostering collaboration, alignment, and shared understanding among critical stakeholders.

A detailed presentation was delivered by the IIRS IT representative, Mr. Obed, who provided a comprehensive overview of the application’s functionality, operational framework, and its role in enhancing tax collection efficiency. The interactive session also addressed key questions from the LGA Chairmen, further clarifying the practical benefits of the initiative.

Representatives from EWAMAC, led by Mrs. Abeakam, offered additional insights into the tax and levy structure underpinning the project. Their contributions provided clarity on compliance processes and projected revenue outcomes, reinforcing the importance of coordinated implementation.
