Consistently Consistent: OCDA Tops Revenue Charts Again in Imo State

The Imo State Internal Revenue Service (IIRS) has commended the Owerri Capital Development Authority (OCDA) for what it described as a “consistently consistent” performance in revenue generation, as the agency retains its position as the top revenue-generating body in the state for the second consecutive year.
Speaking during a recognition meeting, the Executive Chairman of IIRS, Justice R. Okoye (FCA), praised the General Manager of OCDA, Hon. Franklin Nkem Nzewodo for aligning with the state’s economic vision and sustaining impressive revenue growth. According to him, OCDA generated over ₦1 billion in 2025 and has already recorded more than ₦300 million in the first quarter of 2026, maintaining its lead among state agencies.
He noted that the Ministry of Transport followed in second place, with over ₦400 million generated in 2025 and more than ₦200 million in the first quarter of 2026, while the Imo State Housing Corporation in the third place recorded over ₦90 million within the same period in 2026.

Describing OCDA’s achievement as exemplary, Okoye urged other agencies to emulate the authority’s commitment and performance, stressing that improved revenue generation remains critical to advancing the state’s development agenda in line with the vision of Governor Hope Uzodimma.
Responding, the General Manager of OCDA expressed appreciation for the recognition and acknowledged the continuous support from the IIRS leadership. He attributed the agency’s success to discipline, hard work, and strong internal leadership, noting that despite operational challenges, the team has remained focused on delivering results.

He also commended his management staff for their commitment, describing the recognition as both a validation of their efforts and a motivation to further raise the bar in revenue performance.

Meanwhile, the IIRS Chairman used the occasion to announce the launch of a new initiative, OCORA (One Community, One Revenue Agent), aimed at strengthening revenue collection at the grassroots level. The initiative, which aligns with the provisions of the newly signed presumptive tax framework by the Federal Government, will see the onboarding of over 600 revenue agents to manage collections across markets in local government areas of the state.
Okoye emphasized that the success of IIRS in recent years has been driven largely by the deployment of technology and the support of Governor Uzodimma, whom he described as a digital-driven leader. He reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to recognizing and rewarding institutions that demonstrate dedication, synergy, and excellence in revenue generation.
