The Chairman of the Imo State Internal Revenue Service (IIRS), Mr. Justice Okoye, and his team visited the Commissioner for Industry, Mines and Solid Minerals, Rt. Hon. Chief Ibejiako Ifeanyi Ernest on Tuesday 12th November 2024.
Mr. Okoye appreciated the Hon. Commissioner for his zeal and tenacity in driving revenue generation in Imo State.
He highlighted that the IIRS has launched a new digital platform known as the Revenue Management Solution (RMS). This system is designed to make revenue collection easier, faster and more efficient, streamlining tax payment and administration processes across board.
Rt. Hon. Chief Ibejiako Ifeanyi Ernest acknowledged the importance of such a system.
He pointed out several challenges faced by the Ministry while identifying existing needs and gaps within the current structure.
The Hon. Commissioner stressed the importance of meeting these needs to boost the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of Imo State. He expressed his commitment to work closely with the IIRS in order to address these challenges and improve the IGR.
He also pledged his full support to the Service and expressed confidence in Mr. Okoye’s leadership.
The IIRS boss thanked the Hon. Commissioner and promised that subsequent meetings aimed at generating more revenue from the mining and industrial sectors would be held.
