IIRS PARTNERS WITH IMO COMMAND OF NIGERIAN POLICE FORCE ON THE ENFORCEMENT OF THIRD PARTY INSURANCE POLICY

Delegates from The Imo State Internal Revenue Service (IIRS) attended a workshop on enforcement of third-party insurance in Imo State on Tuesday, 21st January 2025. The event was at the instance of the Imo State Command of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF). Representatives from the Nigerian Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Eco Insurance Company as well as other stakeholders were also in attendance. The Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, Aboki Danjuma informed the stakeholders that enforcement of third party Vehicle insurance policy will commence on the 1st of February, 2025 to curtail the low level of compliance for the policy in the State. Citizens will be educated on the importance of third-party insurance before enforcement kicks off. He stressed the need to foster collaboration between the IIRS, Insurance companies, NPF, NURTW as well as relevant stakeholders in the state and reiterated his zero tolerance policy on corruption and extortion from innocent Citizens as the team for the enforcement exercise was inaugurated. The IIRS team led by Mr. Cyriacus Ekechi thanked the commissioner for his proactive measure to enhance third-party motor insurance in the State, increase compliance, and boost the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR). The representative from Eco Insurance in The Motor license office Owerri also enlightened participants on the importance of obtaining third party Insurance and gave a breakdown of third party Insurance prices according to the category of the Vehicle. The Commissioner of Police thanked the participants for attending and looked forward to a positive outcome.
