WORKING TOWARDS EFFECTIVE AND EFFICIENT TAX PAYMENTS: IIRS CHAIRMAN ASSURES ATWAP EXECUTIVE

The Acting Executive Chairman of Imo State Internal Revenue Service (IIRS), Mr. Justice Okoye met with the members of the Association of Table Water Producers (ATWAP) Imo State Chapter led by the Chairman Engr. Lumanze Bismark on Tuesday 17th September 2024 at the IIRS Head Office.

Mr. Okoye welcomed the members of the association. He stressed his concern on the non-compliance level of the associations’ members towards payment of their taxes.

Engr. Lumanze revealed that they have been making payments on behalf of their members to the TSA.

IIRS chairman requested to see the authorisation letter as well as a comprehensive list of all the association members.
He also stated that apart of been tax compliant on statutory taxes, withholding tax on commission paid to their retailers should be paid to the Imo TSA.
He reiterated that no association should collect taxes or levies on behalf of the Service and urged the Chairman to educate their members on the need to make payment as individuals.

Engr. Lumanze appealed that the Service visits ATWAP during their meetings to educate and sensitize them on Personal Income Tax.

In conclusion, IIRS Chairman assured ATWAP on collaborating with them using the New Tax Management Solution to make tax payment effective and efficient.
