PRESS RELEASE: TRANSITION OF SANITATION REVENUE COLLECTION IN IMO STATE

Following a strategic meeting on the 7th of August, 2024 between the Acting Chairman of IIRS and representatives of Eastern Waste Management Company, it has been decided that Eastern Waste Management Company will now oversee the collection of revenue related to sanitation and waste disposal on behalf of the Imo State Government, previously collected by Imo State Internal Revenue Service on behalf Imo State Waste Management Agency (ISWAMA).

This transition marks a new phase aimed at enhancing efficiency and service delivery in sanitation management across the state. The Imo State Internal Revenue Service will continue to play a crucial role in facilitating the collection of revenue, ensuring seamless operations and compliance with the provisions of the law.

This decision underscores the commitment of the Imo State Government to improve service delivery in environmental sanitation and waste management, leveraging private sector expertise and innovation.
