Delegates from the National Association of Private Medical Practitioners (NAPMP) Imo State chapter were warmly received by the Acting Executive Chairman of Imo State Internal Revenue Service (IIRS), Mr Justice Okoye on Friday 18th October 2024.
The Chairman of the Association Dr Uchechukwu Murphy Dike commended the IIRS Chairman for his giant strides in the drive for revenue generation. He assured the Chairman of the associations’ willingness to provide acurate information needed to enhance the revenue in the state.
He however highlighted the challenges members of the association face in meeting their tax obligations which include:high cost of drugs, medical equipments and insecurity experienced in the State.
He appealed to the Chairman for leniency in the assessments served to the members.
He also stated that the association would work with the Service to reach the hospitals in the rural areas.
In response, Mr Justice Okoye applauded the association and their members for being reputable and respectable Individuals in the society and urged them to pay their taxes as at when due.
He also requested for a comprehensive list of the members of the association for effective compliance.
IIRS Chairman reiterated the Service’s zero tolerance on tax evasion and tax avoidance adding that a new tax Management Solution would be deployed soon to make payment of taxes seamless and easy.
