The Imo State Internal Revenue Service (IIRS) on Monday, 15 June 2026, officially launched the One Community One Revenue Agent (OCORA) initiative at a stakeholders’ meeting held in Owerri.
The Deputy Governor of Imo State, Lady Chinyere Ihuoma Ekomaru, PhD, who represented the Executive Governor of Imo State, formally declared the event open. She commended the initiative, describing it as a strategic step toward strengthening accountability, reducing revenue leakages, and improving revenue collection at the grassroots level.
The Executive Chairman of IIRS, Mr. Justice R. Okoye, In his presentation outlined the objectives and implementation framework of OCORA, explaining that the initiative is designed to expand the tax net, improve voluntary compliance, eliminate unauthorized charges, and ensure that businesses operating across communities are properly captured within the state’s revenue system.
Also speaking, the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Barr. Nnamdi Anyiahie, described OCORA as a grassroots-focused programme that encourages wider citizen participation in the development of the state through responsible tax compliance.

The Commissioner for Trade, Commerce and Investment, Barr. Chief Rex Anunobi, welcomed the initiative, noting that it would help bring more businesses in the informal sector into the tax net through collaboration with traditional rulers and community leaders.
Other dignitaries present at the meeting included the Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Chuck Chukwuemeka; the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Chief Mrs. Ruby Emele; the Commissioner for Entrepreneurship and Skills Acquisition; the Commissioner for Budget, Planning and Economic Development, Chief Anselem Anyanwu; and the Chairmen of the 27 Local Government Areas of Imo State.
The meeting ended with stakeholders pledging their support for the successful implementation of the initiative, which is expected to enhance transparency, broaden the tax base, and improve service delivery across communities in Imo State.
