The Acting Chairman of the Imo State Internal Revenue Service (IIRS), Mr. Justice R. Okoye received executive members of the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS), led by Dr. Nkeiruka Happiness Uchegbu, at the IIRS Head Office on Wednesday, 16th October 2024. The meeting provided an opportunity for NAPPS representatives to discuss specific challenges they face regarding tax management and compliance with the IIRS.
IIRS Chairman commended the contributions of private schools in the state, recognizing their significant role in shaping the educational landscape. In response to their expressed concerns, he requested a comprehensive list of NAPPS members, which would assist IIRS in categorizing schools and implementing a harmonized tax assessment strategy tailored to the sector.
Mr. Okoye also informed the association about the new tax management system developed by IIRS, which aims to simplify the tax remittance process, ensuring a more seamless and efficient experience for all stakeholders.
Dr. Uchegbu and her team expressed gratitude for the open dialogue and appreciated the Chairman’s proactive approach. They pledged the association’s commitment to collaborating with the IIRS to achieve shared objectives in tax compliance and support for the educational sector.
