In a bid to harmonize assessment notices served to it’s members, the National Association of Patent Propriety Medicine Dealers (NAPPMED) led by the Chairman, Mr. Okonkwo Cyprion met with Acting Executive Chairman of Imo State Internal Revenue Service (IIRS),Mr. Justice R. Okoye and his team on October 15, 2023.
NAPPMED Chairman highlighted that the association had an agreement with the former IIRS chairman regarding remittances for the year 2022, which the association had complied with.
The IIRS boss who welcomed members of the association inquired how taxes were paid by members of the association, whether individually or collectively as a group.
It was also stated that there was no remittance from the association for 2023 and 2024.
A comprehensive list of all NAPPMED members was requested for to facilitate better harmonization of assessments.
Mr. Okonkwo raised concerns about certain members forming separate associations, which he described as creating division within the group. He also expressed the difficulty in making remittances in 2023 due to insecurity experienced in parts of the State
In response, Mr. Justice Okoye urged NAPPMED members to meet their obligations, to ensure continued collaboration from IIRS in order boost the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of Imo State’s development. He also stressed the importance of maintaining up-to-date records of the association.
