The Imo State Internal Revenue Service (IIRS) recently held a collaborative meeting with the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Imo State Commands and representative of Insurance bodies in Imo State to discuss the integration of vehicle insurance into the State’s Revenue Management Solution (RMS) platform.
Representing the Executive Chairman of IIRS, Chinwe Jude-Ibemere stated that in line with the innovative agenda of His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, the Executive Governor of the State, digitalising the process of issuing Insurance policies became a necessity.
She emphasized that this integration would help curb the proliferation of fake vehicle insurance documents and ensure that all vehicles operating on the State’s roads possess valid insurance policies.
According to the Insurance representative, all insurance policies will be verifiable through the Nigerian Insurance Industry Database (NIID) via www.askniid.org, enabling both enforcement authorities and vehicle owners to confirm the authenticity and validity of insurance policies real time.
Vehicle documents registered and renewed in Imo State can also be verified using the Service’s page iirs.im.gov.ng, my imo app @ www.myimoapp.com, or scanning the QR code on the document.
It was also discussed that insurance claims of up to ₦3,000,000 can be accessed under the third-party policy coverage.
Taxpayers can renew their vehicle documents from the comfort of their homes and offices by using the self-service login on iirs.im.gov.ng and myimoapp.com
This initiative reflects the State Government’s commitment to technology-based reforms to improve governance, enhance transparency, and strengthen service delivery across the State.
